the Place | Summer 2018
Designed in a rural area on the outskirts of Bragança. Where a balance was sought between privacy with the neighborhood and total openness to the Sierra.
In a frank relationship with the natural surroundings, two buildings with distinct functions are requested: one body for housing and the other for display and treatment of personal cars.
Starting from the project’s strategy that the house would not be fragmented, a single volume was thought to unite the two experiences. Thus two volumes are projected, a ground floor that will have the social, indoor and outdoor areas, and a first floor with the private areas.
Inner | outer relationship
The challenge of creating a transition between the spaces without intersections
Designed in white concrete, the reading of the two volumes is autonomous and created by the design of the horizontal lines of the facade. The transition between indoor and outdoor space is continuous and made without any kind of intersection.
Balance between what is built and what is ordered
The fundamental concept was the interior organization in total balance with the requested areas and its surroundings
The Challenge in this project was the requested interior organization in harmony with the place. So on the two floors of the villa are the social spaces on the ground level as well as a guest area and office, and on the first floor the private area, the couple’s children’s bedrooms, an office/playroom, and the master suite.

3D Model
3D Printing the Mockup
The model allows to bring the project closer to reality. The speed of 3D printing helps to test various facade, metric, or other construction options and conclude which one will best meet the initial requirements of each project.
